Rain Barrel update

Our rain barrel filled up last weekend with all that rain we got. Actually it filled halfway up from some light rain we had the week before, and then went crazy with the rain on Sunday. It's been hot as Hades here the past few days, and very dry -- so with possible rain this coming this weekend and a full rain barrel, we decided to try watering with the rain barrel water/hose today.

It went pretty well.  It took a while to get rid of the 55 gallons of rain water we had collected because it does not gush out of the hose with any gusto whatsoever, but it does the job well enough. We can even hold the hose up a bit to water hanging plants (though the limited pressure it has to begin with goes down a bit).  We gave the front garden a good long drink (55 gallons of drink) and are ready to catch the next rainfall.

In other news I've been sitting here anxiously this afternoon waiting for my new Kindle. The tracking site says it's "out for delivery" and has been since 5am this morning.  UPS guy is usually here by now, but of course he's later than usual because it's my delivery. I wonder if  the heat is slowing him down? Anyway we are due to leave in 50 minutes and if it is not here by then I will probably rethink my plan to go to Target with Mom while Bob trains, so as not to miss the UPS man who may or may not leave the package if I'm not here. Not to mention not wanting to leave it out in the heat. I'm afraid it would melt.

Anyway, hopefully we'll have a Kindle update tomorrow!
