It is a freaking GORGEOUS day today. Cool, sunny, breezy. We've had a great stretch of weather lately and even though I've been inside most of the time, I have been able to enjoy it through our windows upstairs. I am sitting in the living room now, in my gravity chair, laptop in my, well, lap. Bob is outside taking pictures of Kayla in the fall leaves, which I will post below when he comes back in. There aren't many leaves on the grass yet but there are a few, and she's happy out there chasing her ball.
My back is much better and I leave for Utah two weeks from tomorrow -- all is right with the world. Except I have a ton to do between now and Oct. 31 but it will get done and I'll handle it all with my usual finesse. And then I am soooooooooo outta here! We have not been to Zion since 2005, and not to Utah at all since May 2008, and it's been much too long. My arthritis was not flaring when I was last there, and I will be interested to see how I feel while we are out there. The dryness of the high desert often heals my bones, and the red rock canyons will nourish my soul. We planned on just tent camping, but have decided, at my request, to take Coleman as well in case I have a hard time getting up and out of the tent. It's cheap to camp there, so we'll set up Coleman when we first arrive, and then, if one of our favorite sites opens up along the river, we'll claim it for our tent and have two sites. My sister is coming out for the last few days so that'll give us extra space as well. Plus it may take a few days to get our perfect tent site. So this plan is a good one.
Speaking of favorite sites, I consider it interesting that in our two favorite campgrounds in America, Zion National Park and Hunting Island State Park (SC), our favorite campsite is #74. Must be our lucky number. Maybe that means we'll be married for 74 years?
