First snow

Lots of it.  Started around 5pm last night and still going.  On our deck rail and hot tub, where it settles nicely for measuring, it appears we have 5-6 inches at least.

We are supposed to go to Peoria this morning the the Acorn Equality Fund breakfast, but given the Winter Storm Warning flashing on the Weather Channel, and their advice not to drive unless it's an emergency, we are going to stay home and not chance it.  Which makes us sad because we love this event.  Maybe I-74 is fine by now, but our street hasn't seen a plow yet, and Bob would have to dig out our driveway first, which would make us late.  So we made the choice to stay home.

We are disappointed, but hope our friends, who are no doubt braving their way there now, will understand.  Better go text them now.

  1. The snow offered a nice opportunity to be mindful and accept what is. I am no longer charmed by snow, and left to my impulses I'd likely complain. But it is what it is, and I might as well make peace with it. Extra chores notwithstanding, it's pretty.

  2. It makes sense to complain, since you have to do all the shoveling!

  3. I understand some parts of Illinois had black ice and that's NOT fun. Glad you stayed put - safe and sound.

  4. We missed you, but you were smart to stay put. When we got home, we imeediately retreated into pajamas and didn't leave the house for the rest of the day!
