Day 2 of My Committee Meeting

Well I can see by the voluminous comments that the recounting of my first day of meeting with the Committee on Church Growth, Christian Education, and PILP was as stimulating for you as it was for me.  So now, to share the pain, let me tell you about day 2.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'd share what happened but I am not cruel.  Suffice to say we talked about PILP, Church Growth, and Christian Education.  We did hear a fun report from a Youth Task Force, which woke me up for a bit this afternoon.  Otherwise it was a continuation of yesterday's snooze-fest. With the exception that we didn't approve something that had already happened.

Of course some tried to stir up some controversy in our committee, just to keep themselves awake.  We had questions about what "racial ethnic" means and whether or not it is an out-dated term.  And of course, being Presbyterians, we had proposed amendments to change things like "saving grace of Jesus Christ" to "the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," which was defeated.  I am not kidding.

Meanwhile, other committees debated gay marriage, divestment from Caterpillar, Middle East Peace, gay ordination, and of course, committees.

I am now in my room, drinking wine and preparing to go find some food (and more booze).  We are supposed to go back at 7:30pm for more "important business," as our chair told us while dismissing us.  I beg to differ, and suspect I'll be in my room with my poor swollen ankles up, watching the important business of who Ali is going to get rid of tonight on The Bachelorette.  Yes, it's come to that.

I blame Calvin.

Well, sometimes boring can be restful - tho' in this case, it doesn't sound so. Too bad you will be missing possible controversy re: Committees - you might have wisdom to offer. But - booze and Ali are important too.

    (Which Calvin? John?)
